Create a beautiful hand embroidered gold snake or swirl on delightful homegrown Herdwick wool. You will learn the basics of working with metal threads including their uses and limitations.
If you really don’t like snakes why not try an abstract swirl design; using the same stitches and techniques you can create a beautiful Goldwork brooch without the scary serpent.
While creating this beautiful image we will explore Couching Pearl Purl, Rococco, and Japanese thread. Along with learning Cut Work in Bright Check Purl. You will learn where and how to use them in order to achieve the desired effect. Final touches will be added with French Knots, a versatile surface stitch and you will stitch clustered beads to give a burst of colour and a contrast of texture.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10am-4pm at Lancaster Castle LA1 1YJ
