Silk Shading is a technique that at first appears easy but needs thoughtful preparation and plenty of practice.
Sometimes known as ‘painting with needle’, Silk Shading requires a sense of colour to achieve a beautiful product, so we will discuss design: a colour drawing, a shaded drawing, a stitch direction and an order of work before we start to stitch; ensuring a good result.
Using DMC stranded cotton, we will stitch the flower using the original image allowing the leaves to rest, bringing the flower head to the fore.
The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
This class will run from 10am-4pm at Lancaster Castle LA1 1YJ
